I just got a set of Bridgestone RE71R tires in 245/40-17 for Autocross for my Focus ST. Earlier this year I had a set of BFG rivals but they decided to crack on the seam so tire rack warrantied them for me and I went with these! First event with them is on Saturday, these are supposed to be the tires to get. First two pics are the BFG with a crack(tread splicing issue) last two pics are the new RE71r.

I have new tires coming too! Except I'm getting them because I'm about to cord the outsides of my current set...

Wow, that’s quite the break! I’ve never seen one split like that. Good that they warrantied them, TireRack is awesome that way! What’s their policy on “Road hazard” coverage for track/autocrossing tires? Or did you just not mention that part? (genuinely curious if they gave you any flak about your usage)

I saw that! There is that little camber on that car?? Have you already flipped the wheels?

Got my RE71Rs at the beginning of summer. Haven’t done any track time with em, but they are quite sticky. Much better traction, but not as direct feeling as my RE11s were. This is the only DD acceptable tire so far that has been able to get me back 1st gear. Everything else would spin to a moderate degree.

Gave me no trouble although they went in with chalk marks on the sides lol. I told them I was concerned they'd cause a blowout. There is a rep for their high performance tires named Luke, very great guy! He moved it through and suggested I change the tire to these...they really have great service. Not sure their road hazard policy, but they told me even though BFG said it was only cosmetic they warrantied them anyways based on only four pictures of tread splicing.

Pretty sure there’s no camber from the factory.

I hadn't flipped the tires, and while I probably could with cord already peeking through I'm playing it safe and going with new rubber. I'll flip the new tires after ~45 autocross runs
